“What is it time for now?” That’s the question leaders ask to get things done. The Delta Leadership Institute (DLI) believes it’s time for change—that it’s time for leaders to unite in improving our communities. How can that kind of meaningful, sustainable change happen? We believe it takes time and training—that’s why the Regional Authority sponsors the leadership institute. The DLI creates opportunities for a corps of leaders to receive specific training in the areas of innovative leadership, change strategy, collaboration and project management. In addition to learning more about the infrastructure of the diverse communities in the eight states they call home, leaders complete projects designed to improve some aspect of life close to home, including healthcare, education and communication technology.
Are you interested in participating? The Delta Leadership Institute does take commitment on your part and on the part of your employer. DLI meets in five sessions. Most of your travel expenses are covered during your tenure. Your commitment does not end with graduation in June. You are encouraged and expected to stay connected and regionally involved through the Delta Leadership Network. Still have questions? Check out the Institute’s Frequently Asked Questions.
The Delta Leadership Network's mission is Unify, Motivate, Inform and its vision is Connecting Leaders to Make a Difference in the Delta. To see members of the network click here. The network grows each year. The first DLI class graduated in 2006. The DLN is guided by a Board of Directors that was established in 2010. One Delta Leader from each of the eight states serves on the board and is elected by network members. One alternate from each state is also on stand-by. See who from your state serves on the board.
The Delta Regional Authority works to improve life for the residents of 252 counties and parishes in parts of eight states. Led by a federal co-chairman appointed by the president and the governors of the eight states, the DRA fosters partnerships throughout the region as it attempts to improve the Delta economy. DRA funds can be used to leverage other federal and state programs such as the Delta Leadership Institute.
